Letters I Gave Myself: Past

To my past:

We knew this day was coming;
when we’d part ways again.
I don’t know why, but this gets easier every time.
Perhaps I have a better understand of you now:
You are not a specific person, or a particular period in my life.

You are everything to me;
everything I have ever been.
All that I’ve gone through, wanted, lost and gained.
Yet you will always remain nothing in the present; you will never again exist.
Because my future is calling me now,
and we’ve had our time.
I love it all regardless of what it’s caused me.
I live everyday hoping you’ll stay away.
Yet I look forward to your whispers in my ear.
The memories you give me remind me of my life.. and what a life it’s been.
Filled with laughter and love that disrupts every ounce of my concentration.
Don’t you dare leave me completely.
Just stay close behind..
Tell me I’m better than this.
Remind me that bitterness is the way of boys and men make the most out of life.
Remind me that I deserve the most out of life. 
That I am now the most I’ve ever been.
I am now the strongest I’ve ever been.
The boldest I’ll ever be until tomorrow.
Tell me you still love who I am.
Because I love you too..
But my future needs me more.
And more of me is what it deserves.
