A collaborative project bringing together visual and performing artists for a unique event that aims to encourage creative practices and collaboration in the community.
Art in Motion brings together multiple forms of artistic expression for the community to experience and engage with. Dancers of disciplines such as Jazz, Modern, Ballet, Krump, and more perform together surrounded by visual artists who will draw and paint from their live observations. The audience is given a space to participate drawing the dancers as the evening unfolds.
On September 17th, 2022, Zachary Diaz collaborated with RESONANCE to revive this original idea and brought it to the Columbia community. It is our hope to continue this unique experience with wider and more diverse audiences abroad. Below are some of the images captured from our Fall event, as well as drawings collected by the audience.

Where it all Began
This idea began in 2016 when Zachary Diaz founded The Artist Guild at the University of South Carolina - a student-artist organization encouraging creative collaborations with various artistic disciplines on Columbia's campus. He originally teamed up with the USC dance company and showcased the project in the heart of campus (images below). Years have passed and Zachary sought to bring this project back to life with a broader range of performing arts disciplines. He then teamed up with RESONANCE (names here) to create the very first public event "Art In Motion."
